So we have a little catch pot. We've never bought one.

  • First it was because if we make a balls up and it would go the same way as our first vacuum pump.
  • Then it was because we wanted a 21 litre one, so we made our own with a CNC'd lid

Then in our "anything that can leak, will leak" stage, we pulled that out of our system as it had connectors & things

Now we have a catchpot which self seals & self sets

  • We could make a video of the top being sucked into place in about 0.25 seconds when the pump is first swtched on - it's really quite entertaining. (That's a lie, we have a reservoir, so I meant when we open the valve on the retractable workshop hose)
  • We have chosen to empty it of resin - we have even chosen to pour the captured resin back into the inflow side (because with our clean-tech, we can)
  • It's made of a transparent material, which is kinda nice to see exactly where the infusion is at any time.
  • It never needs cleaning

Why little you may ask?

  1. We don't need to degass resin before, our combined system is so good you could bubbleate the resin before and it would still come out perfect. That would be another fun video, at a future time
  2. Perfect vacuum means we don't have to cycle through extra resin to impregnate the left or right side which hasn't kept up with the rest. Usually after 2-5 minutes of resin coming out, it really is time to shut off & let the computer do the curing. I'm usually off to do dinner & a movie - or {try, pointlessly to ...} catch up on a backlog or other tasks (who am I kidding?)

Interested?
