No, it's not fine, you won't find the leak later and once the resin is flowing the resin won't seal the leak for you.

  1. 99.5% is not good enough, it won't get better once the pot-life is reached & the resin thickens.
  2. Leak detectors are pretty useless, as are ears - especially when the pump is also running.
  3. You can't just paint a bit later on the dry spots later, either 🤣 🙄 😜

I think I have seen just 1 video ever saying "If you still can't find the leak, it may be best to rip it all up, clean the edges and start again"

(I'm guessing it was EasyComposites?)

Note to self: cameras can be stopped, videos edited.

My personal best? 6 hours on a 30cm catchpot/degassing lid & it still leaked enough to ruin the infusion.

That was day 3 and doesn't include the hours on day 1 & day 2. Which also explains why I went ahead anyway.

It was enough to inspire development of our Gen1 methods = £100s & 1000s hrs

Top Tip: Don't hit vacuum pumps in frustration: there are no soft spots on them and you will feel decidedly "un-better"
